    A Wonder Ingredient- Camphor

Camphor’s scientific name is Cinnamomum Camphor. Other names include Karpura (also known as Dryobalanops Camphora), khapuiw (also known as Kapur), kapur Barus (“the chalk of Barus”), and many more. Camphor was made in ancient times by distilling bark and wood from the camphor trees. Camphor is now usually made from turpentine. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an inhaler or topical ointment. Also used as a pest repellent, preservative and perfume in the plastics industry.

Camphor is a traditional term used:

    • Many vaporubs and decongestants contain camphor oil. It relieves throat congestion, colds, and coryza.
    • It reduces rashes and improves the skin’s function.
    • Apply topically to reduce swelling and pain in muscles and joints.
    • It is anti-fungal and boosts the immune system.
    • The oil of camphor is well known for its calming effects on the mind. It can help induce sleep.

    Camphor explained in Homeopathy:

Camphor is used to treat musculoskeletal problems. It can be used to treat headaches or congestion in the nose. Camphor can also be used to counteract other homeopathic remedies.

    Modern Research:

Camphor has been the subject of numerous clinical studies to determine its therapeutic properties.

Some of the studies conducted include:

    • About 50 case reports with symptoms, that were collected by an Iranian doctor working with diagnosed COVID-19 patients, in Iran; were sent to Dr.Shakaran (a renowned homeopathy doctor), who studies the symptoms and suggested the Homeopathic remedy Camphora. The patients who were Camphora recovered much more quickly than expected from their exhaustion and collapse and, some were even able to return to work within the week.[1][2][3]
    • Studies suggest camphor possesses immune-boosting properties against the influenza virus.[4][5]
    • Research suggests that camphor helps to reduce congestion and improves respiratory function.[6]
    • The study suggests that camphor oil along with other oils can help to reduce knee pain and osteoarthritis.[7]
    • Camphor oil is traditionally used as a popular decongestant, rubefacient, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory agent. A human clinical study reported that camphor oil in concentrations of 100%, 75% and 50% apparently cured scabies within 5-10 days.[8]
