Does Diet play a role in Menorrhagia

Treatment of Menorrhagia is based on identifying the cause, and then taking the appropriate medications. This includes problems with the uterine lining, blood clotting issues, hormonal problems, or uterine polyps. Research suggests that certain dietary modifications can be beneficial to some extent. Include foods high in iron and vitamin C.

    What is Menorrhagia?

Menorrhagia, a common condition among women, is often seen at the beginning or end of their reproductive life. The condition is more prevalent when a woman is approaching menopause. Menorrhagia occurs when a woman’s ‘period,’ or period, is too long and excessively bleeds. This condition can be due to uterine polyps, fibroids or cancer. The excessive bleeding can lead to anemia and iron deficiency. This causes fatigue and lightheadedness. Following certain nutritional changes can help relieve the symptoms.

Menorrhagia can be treated with the food recommended by us.

    Recommended foods:

    • Include iron rich foods such as meat sources. Liver, red meat, and seafood are all high in iron. However, you can also increase your iron intake by eating dry fruits, nuts and beans, spinach and broccoli, and whole grains.
    • Include vitamin C-rich foods such as indian gooseberries, dark leafy vegetables, kiwifruit and broccoli
    • Bananas and ragi are calcium-rich foods.
    • Foods rich in vitamin B6 include bananas, spinach seeds, avocados and tomato juice, as well as fortified cereals.
    • Magnesium-rich foods include watermelon seeds and oats.
    • Include foods such as parsley, fenugreek, ginger, papaya and sesame seeds.

    Foods to Moderately Consume:

    • Limit your intake of animal-based products such as meat and poultry.

    Avoid these foods:

    • It is important to avoid sugary foods such as cookies, cakes and pies that can cause pain.
    • Foods with high salt content, such as pizzas, french fries and other fried food
    • Tea and coffee, which contain caffeine
    • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.

    Home Remedies:

    • Amla powder, honey, and water can reduce bleeding.
    • Rose hip tea is a delicious way to consume rose hips.
